OMG, ow. Madonna took what looked like a painful tumble during her performance at the UK’s Brit Awards on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The songstress was singing her latest single “Living For Love” when she fell backwards off the raised platform she was singing on. It appeared as if one of the star’s backup dancers was attempting to pull off her cape. After hitting the ground hard, a Nicolas Jebran- clad Madonna recovered and continued singing. The performance — and fall, which had Madge visibly shaken up — was the award show’s big finale. To make matters worse, this was Madonna’s first Brit Awards appearance in 20 years — and she seemed nervous ahead of her performance.
“Yes………s—tting myself. Not gonna lie! Even though #bitchimmadonna #rebelheart,” she tweeted before she took the stage, making her nerves well-known.
“Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight!” she explained via Instagram after the snafu. “But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I’m fine! #livingforlove.”
The Brit Awards were streamed live on YouTube before the telecast on Fuse as well. Fellow performers included Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and Kanye West.
