Lois Lilienstein of the musical trio Sharon, Lois & Bram has died at the age of 78, CBC News confirmed on Thursday, April 23. The entertainer was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in October and passed away in Toronto, Canada, on Wednesday night.
“She knew it was happening, she was at peace with it, and she died very peacefully and not in pain,” Lilienstein’s son, David Lilienstein, said in a statement. “The care that she received at home through the various providers was stupendous.”
Lilienstein, Sharon Hampson, and Bram Morrison formed their group in 1978 and starred on the Canadian children’s series The Elephant Show from 1984 to 1989 on CBC. It aired 65 episodes, and also brought children joy on Nickelodeon in the U.S.

Most notably, Lilienstein and her longtime friends sang the catchy tune “Skinnamarink.” In 1998, they headed back to the small screen with Skinnamarink TV for two seasons.
Lilienstein stopped performing live in 2000, two years after the death of her husband Ernest. Her bandmates Hampson, 72, and Morrison, 74, however, continue to entertain on the road.
