Rounding out the dream team! John Travolta has been cast as O.J. Simpson’s defense attorney Robert Shapiro in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX miniseries American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

Travolta, 60, who hasn’t appeared on a TV series since Welcome Back, Kotter, will join Cuba Gooding Jr. (Simpson), Sarah Paulson (prosecutor Marcia Clark), and David Schwimmer, who will portray Robert Kardashian Sr., another of Simpson’s key attorneys in the case.

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson chronicles the former football star’s infamous 1995 murder trial following the death of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. The production marks the first installment of the Glee creator’s new anthology series that dramatizes true crime stories.

According to a press release, the miniseries is based on the book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson by Jeffrey Toobin and will look at the Simpson trial “from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense willingness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.”

Production on the show is set to begin this spring in Los Angeles.
