Iggy Azalea has no interest in figuring out who Beyoncé’s Becky is — because she disagrees with the use of that name altogether. After a fan on Twitter referred to the “Team” singer as a “Becky,” Azalea explained that no one should use the moniker because it’s considered a nickname for white women who perform sexual favors.
“Don’t ever call me a Becky,” the 25-year-old wrote in a series of tweets on Wednesday, April 27. “WE ALL KNOW ‘becky’ started because you all think white girls just go around slobbing on everyones d–k. Im good on being called that.”
After fans asked the Australian rapper to clarify, Azalea tweeted: “Its in no way close to a slur, just rude to replace someones name with a generalized name representing their race.”
Beyoncé fans took offense to her tweets and assumed that Azalea meant that Queen Bey, 34, is racist.

“No i dont think Beyonce is racist nor do i think calling someone ‘BECKY’ is the same as a racial slur. I actually like her and the project,” she tweeted. “BUT, no i dont think its great to use stereotypical names to describe ANY race. I think we can all agree on that.”

The name Becky started making waves after Beyoncé dropped her new visual album, Lemonade — which tells the story of a woman scorned by a cheating lover — on Saturday, April 23. Among the lyrics is the line “he better call Becky with the good hair” from the track “Sorry,” which lead some to speculate that the superstar was making a reference to an alleged mistress and her marriage to Jay Z.
