Chris Young had nothing to do with Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s divorce. In fact, the rising country star told Entertainment Tonight he was “shocked” when he learned his name was being dragged into the middle of their split.

“Man it sucks that I got put in this situation with two people who are my friends,” the “I’m Comin’ Over” singer, 30, told ET when asked about the rumors that he had an affair with Lambert, 31. “It’s just so weird getting pulled into something like that where it just wasn’t true.”

Young added that he was “shocked” people would think he was involved in ending their four-year-long marriage and that even Shelton, 39, laughed off the rumors. “I was in touch with Blake all day that day,” he explained. “He was like, ‘Dude, sorry.’ I was like, ‘I know man.'”

Shelton and Lambert announced that they had called it quits on their marriage in July. “This is not the future we envisioned,” they said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

According to Young, the exes have both moved on from the split. “I have not seen them, [but] I’ve definitely texted and called both of them,” Young concluded of his mentors. “They’re both good since [the last] time I’ve heard from them. As good as you can be…They’re both really great friends still, so it’s just one of those things.”
